Jewellery Design Consultant - Poppy Elder

Hi, I’m Poppy.

I’ve been lucky enough to have a really varied career within the jewellery industry, which has given me insight into almost every part of the process, from early ideas and product development through to launches, brand building and retail.

Along the way, I’ve worked across design, manufacturing, buying, visual merchandising and brand development. That mix of experience means I don’t just see one part of the picture, I understand how everything connects and how decisions made early on affect the business later.

I love being able to use that experience to help other jewellery brands grow and develop with more clarity and confidence.

If you’d like a more detailed overview of my background, you can view it on LinkedIn here.

I’m excited to be able to use my unique background to help others grow and develop their own businesses.

Here is a bit more about some key areas I have loved to focus on:

Jewellery Packaging for Retail

Experience

Retail

At the age of 19 I began a maternity cover of a luxury retail store in The Jewellery Quarter. 8 years later I was still overseeing the store and managing every aspect from buying to designing bespoke pieces for clients. This experience gave me a great insight into the things that are important to the consumer.

Experience

Manufacturing

Having spent over 15 years at one of the UK’s largest jewellery manufacturers, I learnt about the entire process from alloying & casting, to CAD and developing a jewellery collection which is commercially viable.

Brand Creation

One of the areas that I have enjoyed and spent time building skills in is brand development. The element of storytelling is particularly important in the world of jewellery, and brand creation is a key element in this. To further develop these skills I am currently undertaking a Masters degree in Graphic Design.

My Approach

I genuinely believe every jewellery brand has a story behind it. The tricky part is knowing how to tell that story in a way that feels true to you and actually works for your business.

Most of the people I work with already have great ideas. What they’re often missing is space to step back, talk things through and sense-check decisions before committing time and money. That’s where I come in.

I take the time to understand what you’re trying to build, why it matters to you, and where you want to go. From there, I help you shape your product, brand and decisions in a way that feels considered, confident and sustainable.

Design, With Real-World Perspective

I love great design, but I care just as much about whether it makes sense in the real world.

Alongside creative direction, I bring a practical, commercial perspective. I think about who your customer is, how your jewellery fits together as a range, how it’s priced, and how it will actually be sold.

The aim is always the same: jewellery and branding that feels right for you and works long-term, not just something that looks good in isolation. In a super competitive market like jewellery, it’s important to make sure the offer is unique and targeted.

What You’ll Get From Working With Me

Experience that’s been earned
I’ve worked across design, manufacturing and the business side of jewellery, so I understand the full picture. I know where things can go wrong and how to avoid those mistakes early.

Support that adapts to you
No two businesses are the same. Sometimes you’ll need help with product, sometimes brand or marketing, and sometimes you just need a second opinion. My support flexes with what you need at the time.

A UK-based, hands-on approach
I work closely with UK workshops and suppliers and care deeply about quality, ethics and craftsmanship. That experience feeds directly into the advice I give. That being said, I do also work with international clients remotely.

Let’s Work Together

Whether you’re right at the beginning, in the middle of building, or ready to take things to the next level, I’m here to help you think clearly and move forward with confidence.

If you’d like to talk through where you’re at and see if working together feels like the right fit, I’d love to hear from you.
